Women Cell

The Women's Cell at the College of Applied Science,Adoor is a specialized unit dedicated to promoting gender equalityand addressing the concerns and grievances of female students, faculty, and staff within the educational institution. Itserves as an outlet for female students to learn about their legal rights and advance gender equality, with the goal of empowering them to work toward building a more equitable and just society.This platform supports the holistic development of young women, builds their self-esteem, and gives them the ability to make wise decisions. The Women's Cell plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of respect, dignity, and equality within the college community, empowering women to thrive academically, professionally, and personally, and contributing to the overall goal of creating a more inclusive and gender-just society.

Objectives:

  • To raise awareness among students, faculty, and staff about gender equality, women's rights, and the importance of creating a respectful and inclusive environment free from gender-based violence and discrimination.
  • To offer counselling, guidance, and support services to victims of gender-based violence, helping them cope with the trauma, navigate the reporting process, and access appropriate resources for assistance.
  • To organize skill development workshops, leadership training programs, and career guidance sessions specifically tailored to the needs and interests of female students.

Major Activities:

  • Flashmob for women's empowerment
  • Mime on themes pertaining to women's issues and empowerment
  • LED Christmas star-making workshop
  • In honour of International Women's Day, the following events were held in competition; - Spot choreography Competition - Debate Competition
  • "Life Style Diseases" health awareness campaign led by Dr. Sreedevi
  • Self- defense class led by CI of Pathanamthitta
